Farm Shops
WHAT IS A FARM SHOP?
A farm shop is usually a sales space on the farm itself. The farm shop is usually located on the farm, but in some cases also in the village center (depending on proximity). Sometimes there is no real store at all. For example, many farmers sell straight from their shed. Products such as apples, pears, potatoes … are offered from large bins in a corner of the sorting room. Only the sale of dairy and meat requires cooling and therefore a real retail space that must meet strict hygiene requirements.
SPACE ON THE SPOT
A farm shop is usually a space within the farm itself. For example, it can be a fully equipped butcher’s shop, but it can also be sold simply from the barn or sorting area.
ASSORTMENT
The assortment in a farm shop can vary greatly. Farmers sell their own products and collaborate together with other colleagues.
